TOTIUM Launch: We Did It!

SYDNEY, June 21, 2019 – We were thrilled to welcome over 130 senior executives, including Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce AC, to a glittering global launch event at the Ivy. TOTIUM CEO, Dr Simone Ryan took to the stage of the packed auditorium to showcase The Life Check (TLC) - a digital health platform that is poised to disrupt corporate health in Australia and abroad.

“TOTIUM is the new frontier in corporate health making high quality preventative health checks affordable, accessible and relevant.”

The wellness of staff should be non-negotiable for business leaders Dr Ryan explained.

“It’s time for leaders to think about everyone in their business and the return on investment they might get if they invest wisely in the health of their people.” She said. “By having a targeted treatment program to minimise health risk factors for employees, the return on investment can be hundreds to one”.

“With TLC, we’ve made it simple for companies to get the basics right.”

Qantas is first-in-line to pilot The Life Check with plans to roll it out to 200 Loyalty Group employees in July. It has gained stakeholder buy-in from the Medical Director, and the People, Insurance, Wellbeing, and Safety teams. The end goal is to eventually make The Life Check available to all 30,000 Qantas staff and loyalty customers.

Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce, emphasised the importance of making good health care more accessible and the need for companies to embrace evidence-based programs and digital technology such as TLC to help them manage risk and keep their people healthy and well.

“We believe that this has applications for all businesses and all customers.” Mr Joyce said. “It will be great for Australia and the health of Australians’. It will be great as a business that can be exported to the rest of the world.”

Panel discussion with Alan Joyce AC, Dr Simone Ryan facilitated by Carmella Galasso.jpg

During the panel discussion facilitated by the Head of Small Business Banking at ANZ, Carmella Galasso, guests were treated to an extraordinarily warm and candid encounter. Alan and Simone have a long history. She was his treating physician at Qantas where she diagnosed and supported him through a major health scare. Alan openly credits Simone for having saved his life and has been a friend, business mentor and supporter of her work ever since. No topic was off limits: from instigating a cultural shift towards greater diversity and inclusion at Qantas, to Alan openly talking about his health issues and his support of gay marriage.

With 2018 research from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare showing that 50% of Australians have a chronic health condition, many organisations are actively seeking to implement effective strategies to reduce risk and subsequently to benefit from employing a productive and healthy ageing workforce.
